Building Communities, One Brick at a Time:

Turning Crisis into Community

My Auntie Rosa once said, if one of us is not free, then all of us are not free.

I say, if one of us is homeless, then we are all homeless.

- Sheila Keys, Executive Director, The 2672 Project

From the shadows of hardship to the light of empowerment

The 2672 Project pioneers a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Facing the harsh realities of homelessness, unemployment, underemployment, and systemic barriers, The 2672 Project, a Michigan registered 501(c)(3) promotes community empowerment and economic resilience through education, job training, and access to critical resources, fostering a cycle of support that transforms the vulnerable into pillars of a proud, thriving, self-reliant yet cooperative community that will build generationally.

The 2672 Project Mission: Building a Foundation for Change

In the spirit of Rosa Parks' legacy of courage and change, The 2672 Project, led by her niece Sheila Keys, is dedicated to dismantling the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Through education, job training, and community stabilization, we empower individuals and families to build a self-reliant future, fostering a community that uplifts itself from within.

Turning Uncertainty Into Stability

“I recently had to move unexpectedly, and it was one of the hardest times for me and my kids. I reached out to so many programs for help, but no one was able to assist us. As a hardworking mom, it was heartbreaking and scary to think we might end up without a place to call home. Then my son’s coach connected me with Sheila from the 2672 Project — truly a blessing when I needed it most. I shared my situation, applied, and with their help, my children and I were able to secure a beautiful 4-bedroom home. I can’t express how thankful I am. This program gave us hope, stability, and peace during a really dark time.”

A Message from The 2672 Project Executive Director, Sheila Keys

What is a community? A community is composed of its people. A community cannot stand on a foundation made of sand. A community must have a strong foundation and its people must earn a living wage. Without a living wage, the community will deteriorate and the people will leave for greener pastures. In order to build a strong community, we must have and maintain a living wage. The living wage will be affected through educational resources and government intervention, building communities upon a solid foundation. We must work in the disenfranchised areas to rebuild our communities one step at a time. Remove blight to eliminate flight!
